Employers who hired Autistic employees identified many benefits including regular attendance, long-term employment, meaningful co-worker relationships, positive role models, increase in productivity, and education about Autism. Employers familiar with Autism also indicated an increase in their capacity to accommodate for specific needs of employees. Some skills and knowledge that may be missing for employers is how to fit a job for the individual with specific Autistic traits. There are many strategies employers use to create inclusive and positive work settings for those on the spectrum. This builds strong support systems and enhances knowledge about Autism for co-workers and employers. Employers play a crucial role in creating positive and successful work environments.
